Ross Marks Bio


Ross Marks was born in Toronto and grew up in the village of Thornhill. As a youth he studied with local artist, Thoreau MacDonald, son of J.E.H. MacDonald. Ross moved to Toronto in 1978 where he completed his formal education at The Central Technical School of Art. In 1980 Ross took up residence at The Studio Building, built by Lawren Harris for the Group of Seven. Resident artists Gordon MacNamara, Paul Duval and Harold Town offered much encouragement to the young artist. In 1981 Ross exhibited at the Studio Building with a collection entitled, “The First Exhibition” Ross has been exhibiting his work for the past 27 years. In 1998 he began a second career as a corporate art consultant.
